A Historic Partnership in AI
Nvidia and OpenAI have unveiled a $100 billion strategic partnership that will dramatically expand AI computing power and reshape the landscape of artificial intelligence. The deal marks one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in tech history, cementing Nvidia’s role as the backbone of next-generation AI systems.

Building 10 Gigawatts of AI Compute
As part of the agreement, OpenAI will deploy 10 gigawatts of Nvidia lpowered systems to run its advanced AI models. To understand the scale, that’s equivalent to the output of four Hoover Dams or enough energy to power 8 million American homes, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang estimated that the project could require 4–5 million GPUs, about twice the volume of GPUs shipped by Nvidia last year. He described the initiative as the “biggest infrastructure project in history.”

Phased Rollout Beginning 2026
The first stage of the partnership is expected to come online in the second half of 2026. Nvidia’s $100 billion investment will be released in phases as OpenAI constructs massive new data center clusters designed to support ever-larger AI models.

Stock Market Response
The announcement immediately lifted Nvidia’s market position. Shares rose 4%, adding nearly $170 billion in market value in a single day   a surge large enough to offset a significant portion of the company’s planned investment.

Redefining the AI Race
This alliance highlights how AI infrastructure has become the critical battleground for technology leaders. For Nvidia, the deal strengthens its dominance in GPU driven computing. For OpenAI, it provides the scale and hardware needed to push generative AI capabilities even further.

As both companies move forward, the global tech community will be watching how this project reshapes innovation, competition, and the very foundation of artificial intelligence.
